He purchased one of my very first prototypes, a 13 x 4 1/2 inches maple snare drum, with maple hoops. He played it along with Maceo Parker. This range of snares is often funk drummers favorite choice. They «cut» as well or even more than regular piccolo snares but the thin solid maple gives them a finer response and great body.
